Anne Stevenson's poem "Sous-entendu" is a poem written from a female's point of view how we view men to look at women. The poem kind of generalizes how men always want more than a emotional relationship with the women. For many men, it is more of a physical relationship than emotional. As per this poem, the author perfectly describes a womanizer one might say. Men might lure the women by their sweet words but it is only to form a physical relationship that pleases them.
Don't think
that I don't know
the hand of your mind
is conspiciously
taking off my stocking,
These lines from the poem generalizes how men tend to form the relationship with the women. However, this poem also gives the insight on how women are not as naive as men might think. They know every move of the opposite sex. The man might think the sweet words might be enough to lure the woman, but it is not. This poem kind of leads to a deeper understanding of what women really want. They do not just want the physical relationship but they crave for an emotional bond with their better half.
Don't think
that I don't know
that you know
everything I say
is a garment
It can be interpreted from this poem how the woman does not just want the man to just have a physical relationship with her. She wants him to be there in and out and not just when he has needs. The woman speaks of the garment because she does not just want the man to think that he needs the girl without the garment but there is a sweeter bond with the garment if it stays on.
Gender poems are very interesting because it kind of gives a message to the opposite sex. Men and women have different point of views on their relationship with each other. Poems are an easy way to express their thoughts.

The Bitter Creature
Stephen Crane's poem " In the desert" is quite unusual. The poem might speak of a creature in a desert but there is more to the poem than the creature just eating it's heart. Creatures in the desert or anyone to speak of tend to feel isolated when there is no one around.
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
Creatures in the desert have no one, being isolated and being left alone, they begin to feel this bitter feeling to life. The poem is not just about the creatures but is about all in general. We tend to feel this bitter feeling to life when we have no one around. Life kind of holds no meaning when there is no one to share it with.
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."
If one is not loved, then all they really have to love is their own self. Not having someone around to share life with, kind makes one feel miserable. It is easy to say for one that they like being the way they are not but deep down if they have no one to share their life with , they truly are living a life they do not want. Living an isolated life, only causes one to miss out the great parts to life. The creature in this poem might say he enjoys eating his heart but truly he hates it.
