Fire and Ice-Twilight

The poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost is a poem about our choices in life. Life requires us at one point to make decisions, the decisions aren't necessarily the best or worst.

"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice."

The first two lines of the poem refers to the decisions we make in life, that can either be fire or ice.The poem refers to fire as a desire with passion. Ice, I assumed referred to a desire with more reason than just a passionate desire. I think Robert Frost was trying to explain to us that our desires destruct us in the end because we spend our lives trying to achieve that desire even if it means taking our heart and soul away. The world ends and all that individual did was spend his time making that decision. He could have lived life more to the fullest, but these desires took his whole world away.

"From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great"

After reading these lines, I understood that most decisions that are made in life are like fire and ice. Life brings us towards challenges that leaves us with decisions we become indifferent to because of their similar impact on us.

After reading this poem, I understood why this poem was mentioned in Twilight now. Edward and Jacob for Bella were the fire and ice. The poem relates to the decisions she had to make regarding the two men. Edward was the the passionate desire for Bella who would lead her life to fire. On the other hand, Jacob was the ice.  However, picking either one would change her world completely as one was a vampire and the other a werewolf.
