Lonely Souls

“Eleanor Rigby” by Paul McCartney is a ballad with a very deep meaning. The ballad speaks of how the world really is. In the world we are living in, there are many selfish people. Only few are selfless, but like this song said they are the lonely people. The lonely souls that linger in this world have no destination.  We meet many people but never tend to get as close because everyone in this world is out for themselves.

Waits at the window
Wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door.
Who is it for?

The ballad has a depressing tone.  Reading these lines do not only speak about Eleanor but of any individual. The individual waits to meet people and have people in their lives because without the love and affection our lives do not matter. Individuals strive to achieve success and in that journey forget about others, however, in the end family and friends are what matter.

All the lonely people,
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people,
Where do they all belong?

The world is filled with lonely hearts. These hearts feel like they do not need others in their life and move along with their life. Though, there are the few like Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie who want others to come into their lives. These are the few selfless individuals who care to wait for others. They believe that someday some people will come into their life and bring that sunshine.  Eleanor deep down that no one would come, yet she waited with that hope that people would come into her life to care. These selfless hearts are the ones that dream of love and not success.
